Donations to political parties, including sponsorship, are regulated by the Political Parties Elections and Referendums Act 2000.
Donations of more than £500 will only be accepted if they are from a permissible donor. We will check before accepting a donation.
Permissible donors are:
- Individuals on a UK electoral register
- Companies and Limited Liability Partnerships incorporated, registered and trading in the UK
- UK-based Trade Unions
- UK-based unincorporated associations
Donations must be from the donor’s own funds and may not be passed on from a third party. It is an offence not to reveal the true source of a donation.
Donations to political parties are not tax-deductible.
Disclosure to the Electoral Commission
- Details of donors giving more than £2,230 to a local or regional Green Party in a calendar year will be sent to the Electoral Commission.
- Details of donors giving more than £11,180 nationally The Green Party of England and Wales in a calendar year will be sent to the Electoral Commission.
The name of the donor and the amount of the donation will be published on the Electoral Commission website. While the addresses of individuals are not published, the addresses of organisations will be.
